Microsoft has worked very hard to embed Business Intelligence in AX 2012 through the use of both Analysis and Reporting.
AX 2012 BI primarily provides compelling experiences around business data. What that means is that the content is compelling, interactive and rich. Additionally, AX 2012 enables developers to more easily build those rich experiences.
With AX 2012, Microsoft has moved from the old reporting platform to the new SQL Server Reporting Services Platform for a much more productive environment. Customers have been asking for this shift to SSRS for some time and Microsoft has listened!
Now, with AX 2012, it’s far easier to create rich business intelligence experiences for the user. The dashboards in AX 2012 are a perfect example of this, as well as the use of familiar tools such as office and excel to analyze and manipulate data, and the ease of analysis provided with such tools as cubes and the ability to more easily and quickly see trends in KPI’s.
SSRS in AX 2012 provides users and developers with an optimized ability to create simple reports, even including such actions as grouping and totaling.
